The Story Behind Tonari
The creation of Tonari was born from a desire to preserve a unique life archive for my two tuxedo cat siblings—a pair of cherished souls who share our home. I often found myself wondering how best to capture those fleeting fragments of time: the silhouettes of their afternoon chases, the lighthearted leaps after a successful weight loss journey, the gentle rhythm of their breathing as they sleep faithfully by our side at night, or the curious yet cautious gazes during their explorations of the world beyond our door. These seemingly ordinary moments are, in truth, the most moving footnotes of their lives. In this app, I chose to use the 'Map' as the latitude and longitude of our memories. By extending the record into the dimension of space, I hope to witness every mark they leave upon this world. As each new location is 'unlocked' on the map and every memory is pinned to a precise coordinate, I can almost see their small, furry forms measuring the strength of life, step by step. This perspective allows me to look back at the trajectory of their growth and change in a broader, more complete way. Thus, when I write letters to them in Tonari, I am doing more than just pouring out my heart; I am chronicling an epic of their lives. From the passage of time to the crossing of space, these records carry every change they undergo and freeze every footprint they make. Through Tonari, I hope that love can follow these tracks, forever shimmering across the map.
